Fern is a single line of HTML. Once it's on your site, a launcher button appears in the corner of every page you added it to, and visitors can start a design conversation without leaving.
Find your snippet
Your snippet is unique to your account — it carries the ID that tells us which business a lead belongs to. You'll find it in Fern Settings under the installation step. It looks like this:

Add it to your site
Paste the snippet just before the closing </body> tag on every page you want
Fern to appear on. Most people add it to their site-wide footer or template so it shows up
everywhere at once.
Where that lives depends on your website builder:
- WordPress — Appearance → Theme File Editor →
footer.php, or any "custom scripts" / header-and-footer plugin. - Squarespace — Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → Footer.
- Wix — Settings → Custom Code → Add Custom Code, set to load on all pages, placed in the body.
- Webflow — Project Settings → Custom Code → Footer Code.
- Shopify — Online Store → Themes → Edit code →
theme.liquid, before</body>. - Anything else — ask whoever maintains your site to add it before the closing body tag. It's a one-minute change.
Publish your changes when you're done. Fern won't appear on a draft or preview you haven't published.
Confirm it worked
Back in Fern Settings, we check your website for the snippet and show you the result. If it says Fern isn't installed yet:
- Make sure you published the change, not just saved a draft.
- Check that the website address on your account matches the site you actually added it to.
- Confirm the page is publicly reachable — we can't check a site behind a password or a staging login.
- If your site caches aggressively, clear the cache and check again.
You can also just visit your own site. If the Fern launcher appears in the corner, it's working.
What happens next
A visitor opens Fern, answers a few questions about their yard, and gets an AI-generated design concept. To receive the full Design Vision, they verify their email or phone — and that verification is what turns them into a lead you hear about.
